Ironically, I spent over a week in Niagara Falls, but met up with Scotty while he was on vacation for a quick spell in Shubenacadie. We took in the sights at Curly's, located in Enfield.

As Scott would say, you know you're in the country when they are auctioning off ground beef for charity at the local pub. Sweet times!

I had a busy day today, boy. I headed to Burlington to have lunch with a friend of mine, Rob. We went to the Queens Head Pub on Brant Street to catch up.

Afterwards I took a few shots of the waterfront in Burlington.

After getting back to the Falls I stopped into Mick and Angelo's on Lundy's Lane for a drink with Bonita Applebaum before heading out for the night.
Quiet night in Niagara Falls on a Monday, but I hit the town with Ryan Mallett for some drinks and a few laughs. Had a really enjoyable evening as we hit the Highland Tap, and finished off the night at the Wild Mushroom.

Red Sox Opening Night against the Evil Empire! Is there anything better? I had the good fortune to meet up with Jason and Larry O as we took in the game at Philthy McNasty's in Burlington. The Red Sox won a hard fought game to start the season in first place where they rightfully belong.

Great times! I should also give a shout out to Michelle, our server, who did a fantastic job and helped make for a very entertaining night.

Off to Ontario for a three hour tour that will last at least a week. Here's a shot from the plane over Nova Scotia, it looks like an airport below, couldn't have been far from Halifax.

And on my arrival I was greeted by a little friend who cleverly made it into Geoffs house by opening the fireplace doors after repeatedly banging on them.

Quite an interesting start to my Ontario trip.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

We made quite a few stops around town including The Frigate and The Pogue Fado where we spent most of our time. A few places on Spring Garden Road rounded out the night. Here are a few quick pics from the night, unfortunately only Blackberry quality...

Although I may look a little inebriated, that is actually the result of my recent eye surgery. The lights were a little bright to look into. Great times though!

Today was the much anticipated Wilco concert at the Halifax Forum, attended by myself, Dave, John and Chris. I also saw a few other friends there that were unexpected. The show started off with a group called Bahamas. Although I think the "group" is only one person. There were mixed reviews from those present, but I liked them, or him. I think most people were just anxious to get Wilco onstage, and their impatience led to their mixed reviews. Here are a few pics of Bahamas.

While the main act was getting ready, we got a call from the 70's, they just wanted Richard Dreyfuss back. I told him that I loved him in Close Encounters, but he just gave me a quizzical look.

Finally, Wilco took the stage and it was a great show. They were less than impressed with the venue and loved referring to the Forum as a Bingo Hall. Nevertheless, they played to a packed house for several hours, and we more than got our moneys worth of their music. They played a great variety of songs, and our only complaint was that it was almost too long, probably due to the sweat box that the forum turned into. Great musicians though, they played tight and the singers voice was amazing.

The best part of the night came after the show. We stopped in for a few drinks at the Economy Shoe Shop downtown, and who should arrive but the band members. They were very gracious guys, and even signed our tickets for us. Great way to end the night and a nice souvenir to have.

I took a detour to Fox Island, through Guysborough and Queensport's Beach, on the way home from Halifax. I checked out Geoff's cabin, which was a great little place on the water. There was a lot of wind and rain unfortunately, but it was all good once the woodstove was going strong.

I hit the mainland for a few days to scout some business locations in Halifax. While I was there, myself and Geoff took a blast down to the Valley to visit his old stomping grounds and see a few friends and relatives of his. We went to lunch in Wolfville at a place called Joe's. A great little spot with a nice patio to watch the talent go by.

We also stopped in to see his relatives. Great view from the living room.

Of course we made the trip with the top down in the Mercedes convertible. The only way to fly...

Next up was Kentville, where of course I was interested in the baseball fields more than anything else. I also stopped to pay my respects at the war memorial.

We also visited the campus of King's-Edgehill private school, Geoff's old Alma Mater, which has the claim to being Canada's oldest and first independent school. It was established in 1788. No pics unfortunately.

Posted a new photo recently.

I came across this little gem while I was packing some stuff up at home. I was banned from the basement of my dormitory in my freshman year after some funny comments about the Basement Republican Army (B.R.A). It was tough doing laundry for a spell there, but I made it through and it was a classic moment that I am glad I have a little memory of. Hard to believe it has been the better part of 20 years since the incident.

All the nicknames are still present. I couldn't have remembered them all if I tried.

Well I finally put together the footage I took when I attended the Sidney Crosby Stanley Cup Celebration Parade in Cole Harbour a few weeks ago. Phil had a Carib Party (see July blog for pics) at his place, and on the same day we saw the parade roll through Cole Harbour, a stone's throw from Phil's house. Sid the Kid brought the Stanley Cup, as well as Maxime Talbot and the Prince of Wales trophy, along for the ride.

"The Next One" had begun the day landing in a military helicopter on the deck of the HMCS Preserver. He shared the Cup with some military families before beginning the parade route in Cole Harbour. He chose Cole Harbour, of course, because that is where he was raised.

It is now the 8th anniversary of 9/11. I'm sure everyone remembers where they were when they got the phone call about the attacks. I still remember where I was when I got the call that "World War 3" was happening. I was awoken by a phone call from Mr. March declaring the End of the World. I certainly thought it was, after working swing shift the night before and getting woken up early by a phone call. I watched a show last night on the Conspiracy Theories about the attacks, including the missile theory and the controlled demolition. The show basically proved that these theories are false, but the naysayers insist that technology was used that we don't know about yet. Kind of a pointless show, you aren't going to convince the people who believe in these theories that they are wrong. So what's the point. But I digress....
On a lighter note, here is the infamous YouTube sensation, the JK Wedding Dance Entrance. You can also check it out on their website for the wedding, here. Interesting choice of songs, with Forever by Chris Brown getting the nod, but they do make it possible to donate towards violence prevention on their website.

Five of us took in the sights at Peggy's Cove recently. Myself and Phil were joined by the three girls for a little surf action. Many tourists, including artists and photographers, flock to Peggy's Cove each year to take in the beauty of this small fishing village. It is one of the busiest tourist attractions in Nova Scotia, and we can verify that as it was incredibly busy on this day. Tourists explore the various granite outcroppings around the lighthouse, which can be dangerous if you are not careful. Some get swept into the sea, and there has been drownings, despite the warnings nearby.

Here are some of the more picturesque views in my humble opinion.

We also paid a visit to the Memorial for Swissair Flight 111, located about a mile or so from Peggy's Cove in a place called Whalesback. The airplane crashed into St. Margaret's Bay on September 2, 1998.

We took in the Jays-Yankees game on the weekend. Nice little relaxing afternoon ball game with the Evil Empire going down in flames in a 14-8 loss. Love it. Ruiz was hit in the face by a pitch, which was very scary stuff. We sat along the third base line in the front row, thanks to my brother James. We were in perfect foul ball territory, but we were a tad late for the game and just missed the couple next to us getting a ball. Oh well, dem's the breaks. Great game nonetheless.

Check out the Phasianus colchicus hanging out in our back yard. I never saw any Ring Necked Pheasants around when I was a kid but they sure are here now and are kind of cool to see. They are a fairly big size at that. I scared him away when I went outside but still got a shot of him before he disappeared in the woods.

This must be a male judging from its colorful head and long tail.

Well, we were supposed to hit the Bras'dor Lakes today for a little boating action, some swimming and a few beverages, but alas Hurricane Bill decided to make an appearance and it was cancelled. Luckily, it was still warm and sunny inland, so we made our way to Dave's house for a little pool party.

It was great to see some of the old friends again. Good times.

The sea was rough that day my friends! In light of that, we stopped at Nikki Beach for the afternoon instead of venturing farther out on our trusty steed, err...boat. It took a little while to get there since the ocean was rough, but it was well worth the wait. It wasn't terribly busy, but there was enough girls to make it a worthwhile trip. Here's a few pics of our approach, and the view of Nikki Beach from the boat. How about the color of that water? Almost matches the sky.

We docked at the resort and headed for some Mojitos, swimming, beach volleyball, and just a little bit of model watching. Nikki Beach is well known for keeping models hanging around, and today was no exception.

Myself, Mike and Bonita Applebaum, made relatively short work of Roy, Cliff and Rhynie in the second game of Beach Volleyball, after a tough first match which saw us prevail in overtime.

The trip back home to Turtle Cove Marina was a lot quicker, since we were driving with the wind. Rhynie did his best to toss Roy from the front of the boat, but unfortunately he hung on.

We will definitely be back.

Quite a few of us took in a day of Sun, Surf and Fun at Club Med here on Providenciales, TCI. The facility was nice although pretty old and a bit outdated due to its age. There was a great band playing at Sharkies, a little bar on the grounds, out by the sailing shack. A few guys tried unsuccessfully to Windsurf, while others did the trapeze. Here is a sample of the trapeze acts, featuring Jason "Bonita" Applebaum shaking in his boots.. The rest can be found on my Club Med Trapeze page in Events.

Tonight was the night for the much anticipated big grand opening of Nikki Beach - Turks and Caicos. It was an all white VIP party. No white, No entry. It was crazy there with thousands of people in attendance. I had the good fortune to mingle with some celebrities in the VIP area, all the while sipping Mojitos. They shut the place down early though, since they started to run out of liquor and craziness was everywhere, if there's such a thing. After that we partied at Club Celebrity til the break of dawn. Memorable weekend for sure.

Huge concert night at the Player's Club Casino here in Turks and Caicos. Tarrus Riley rocked the house with a little comedy from Damon Williams. I had the opportunity to meet a few celebrities including Mekhi Phifer and Lennox Lewis. The party rocked until the break of dawn. I busted out about 5:30 am since I had to work in a few hours. It was off the hook fun.

We attended a Turf and Surf Horse Racing Event in support of the Local Youth Aids Program. The room was packed as everyone cheered on their favorite horses. The last race had the bidding go as high as $10K for a horse. What a great night for some action. Myself, Jason, Karl and Jon were all in attendance. Lots of money was raised for a good cause, the TCAAF.

Well, well, well. I experienced my first earthquake today as a temblor reaching 7.4 on the Richter scale rocked St. Kitts and Nevis and the rest of the Caribbean as far south as Trinidad and Tobega at about 3pm. I was downtown when the quake hit and workers fled buildings and congregated in the streets when it hit. I was by the water and I didn't feel it as much as some others in the area. Apparently this was the third earthquake for the week, but it was the first that was so widespread and felt by so many people.

Here is a classic Wheel Of Fortune moment where the lady achieved what must have been the most epic fall from grace in the history of the show. It's incredible that she was unable to come up with the answer considering the overwhelming amount of letters she had uncovered and the huge amount of money involved for that show. Here is a little interview on a Dutch talk show where the guest accidentally had his testicles removed and is obviously involved in a medical malpractice suit now. The interviewer loses it and apparently also lost his job. Too funny. You'd never catch Oprah acting like this. I'm surprised the audience isn't cracking up more.

Happy Birthday Larry O! We headed to Blu for dinner before hitting the beach bar scene for some drinks in celebration of Larry O's birthday. Since it was a Tuesday, the bar scene was slow, but we had enough people with us to bring our own party wherever we went. Turned out to be a great day, except for the fire ants attacking Larry O on the golf course. But that is a story for another day...

It was also good to see a little taste of Canada at one of the beach bars.

Deep Sea Fishing was on the menu today as we went in search of some big game fish. We headed to the channel between St. Eustacius and St. Kitts to skirt the outer banks in search of some Wahoo. It's that time of year, Halloween time. Friday night is close enough to October 31st to make for a great night to have a costume party in honor of All Hallows' Eve. Myself, Scott, Sean, Amin, and Dane dressed up as poker hands. Scotty was "Jack-King off". Sean was "The Big Lick" 69. Amin was "Pocket Rockets", Aces, and Dane was "Big Slick", Ace-King. I couldn't choose between "The Jackson Five" Jack-Five and "The San Francisco Busboy", which is Queen-3. (A Queen with a Tray, lol). I finally settled on "Lady Kila" which is the pocket Kings.

Location was a local house rented out by some of the college students we know at Ross University. It's right off the 11th tee box on the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club. Johnny was spinning the tunes, while Kevin and some boys bartended. It was a whopping $4 US for All-You-Can-Drink. Of course, we had to have some Jell-O shooters as well. What would a party be without Jell-O shooters? We even left our classic calling cards (or playing cards) at the scene of the crime.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We celebrated a little Canadian Thanksgiving on St. Kitts with a party at Mike's Villa here on the resort. As is the usual custom, Dave cooked the Turkeys and Giulio did the carving. Everyone chipped in with dishes and drinks, and the dinner was a great success. Afterwards we watched the Cowboys squeak out a win over the Bills in a thrilling finish on Monday Night Football. We also celebrated the defeat of the evil Yankee empire at the hands of the Indians. Although I wouldn't have minded them getting through to see my Red Sox kill them off. I won a nice little chunk of change on the Indians victory as well as winning the poker tourney. It was a very successful night.

The movie "The Hitman" based on the popular video game, which I enjoyed very much, will hit theatres on October 12th. That means it will hit St. Kitts around next March or so, lol. Here's a trailer for the upcoming feature. It stars Timothy Olyphant in the title role. He recently appeared in Die Hard 4.0. He's got an interesting and angry look to him that I am not sure will be exactly what I picture for the role. We'll see how he does...

I had the fortunate chance to spend the weekend at the Condado Plaza Hotel and Casino in Puerto Rico. It's a beautiful resort that is currently undergoing a huge renovation to upgrade all of it's services. The new lobby looks like it will be fantastic. I stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms in the Lagoon Tower which overlooks the Condado Lagoon. The Ocean Tower appropriately overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. Here's a few pics:

I was able to take part in a DVD shoot this weekend for the Calendar Girls 2007 at my old stomping ground, The Palace nightclub in my Halifax, Nova Scotia. It was a great time and the girls looked fantastic. Should be a nice little credit on my slowly growing entertainment resume. I've included a few pics here. A trip back to Cape Breton wouldn't be the same without a little fishing adventure. We made the usual stops at MacLeod's Brook, MacLellan's Brook and Sky Glen. Once again, the Cape Breton scenery was magnificent. I took in about 30 fish myself, but I could only keep 5 as per the provincial allowances. Looks like it's trout for dinner tomorrow.

The beach was great, but not too crowded, and we even had a nice meal at the Keltic Lodge. Definitely a must stop along the Cabot Trail.

The Canadian Nationals ended today with our Venom team finishing approximately 9th in the standings. Final results will be released in the coming days. It was a disappointing but respectable finish to the tourney. All the photos and video will be posted as usual on the venom website.

The Canadian Nationals are well underway and we finished the round robin at 2-2. Not overly impressive, but we managed to make it into the playoffs. Check out the Venom website for pictures and updates. We lost to a team from Porter's Lake, Nova Scotia in extra innings in the final game of the Round Robin. We also stopped by the Mandarin Buffet in St. Catharines for a post game feast. The food was fantastic there as always and we were quite full after we finished tearing into the buffet. I even had a little sushi. Here are a few pictures and a video of the fish pond at the Mandarin, hopefully none of these making it into the sushi I had.

Several days a week, and in particular on the weekend, there is a band that plays in the Lobby Bar here at the Marriott Resort. After hitting Calypso for some dinner, a couple of us relaxed and took in the scene there. Here are a couple of pics and a little video clip of us hanging out listening to the music.

We had a nice little active day today that started with a hike up the large mountain-type hill near the Marriott Resort. There were some great views of the surrounding area on the way up and especially on the top. We were exhausted from the climb, but we all agreed it was well worth it. After that was a long swim in the ocean where Phil broke out his underwater camera. Now it's time to relax a bit before we hit the tennis courts for a set or two.

We did see just a bit of wildlife including this herd of goats.

Last night we hit Sugars for the trilogy of pool, karaoke and dancing. Well, we only listened to the karaoke and watched others dancing, but we did play pool for a while. I was partners with The Phil, and we lost a five game thriller to Larry and Jessica. Jessica sank the winning ball, despite playing with "Larry's Curse". I am now 0 for 2 in sports with Phil as a partner. The lesson learned is that you shouldn't pick Phil as a partner. Or... maybe you shouldn't pick me...but I digress. Unfortunately, none of the people in our group brought a camera. Very unfortunate.

The last two days have been quite busy, but I managed to get a few shots of our golf game today at the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club. Phil and I lost to Mike and Giulio as Phil (aka Hacker) put together a strong effort with a 123. Ridiculous. He was playing Hockey out there on the course. I should have reminded Phil before we went out there and got our asses handed to us that the game was golf, not hockey. I've never seen damage that bad before. But I didn't exactly shoot amazing either, so I guess I can't shift all the blame...

Most of the pics were taken on the 14th Green since it overlooks both the Atlantic Ocean and the Marriott Resort. There is also a picture of the stone walkway leading to the condos overlooking the 12th Hole. Giulio and his foursome trailed behind us and you can see them in the last pic.

I didn't have much luck in the poker tournament at Mike's last night. I got busted out with a pair of ladies pre-flop. There were three of us all-in pre-flop , with my Queens up against a pair of Jacks for Gypsy and a King-Ten off suit for Tristan. I had the advantage going in, but a jack came on the flop to give Gypsy trip Jacks, but then Tristan managed to pull off a straight to take down the pot. I ended up being third in the hand and didn't even get the side pot. Oh well, that's the way the cards fall. It was a pretty good tournament with 12 of us taking part in all.

Although poker didn't pan out for me, the barbeque was fantastic. We had the usual BBQ fare including hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken. But there was some nice dishes as well prepared by Gypsy including potato salad, beans, corn on the cob and a delicious appetizer consisting of jalapeno peppers stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. They were fantastic. There must have been twenty of us at the barbeque and a good time was had by all.

Only one more day until the arrival of Phil and Jessica. I'll have to get this villa ship shape today. Hopefully they're having a good time in Orlando before their arrival tomorrow.

Today was a good day for golfing at the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club. The sky was a little overcast for a change, so the sun wasn't as hot as it usually is. Myself and Daron took on Mike and Giulio in a little match, with a small wager attached of course. Fortunately the good guys prevailed in the end as I tied Mike, and Daron edged out Giulio for the win. Lunch was on them of course. Here you can see an old abandoned house on the 8th hole and us getting drinks on the 10th.

At night it was time to head to Mike R's for a little evening barbeque and some poker. Only two more days until the arrival of The Phil. Hopefully this overcast sky isn't a sign that he's taken some bad weather here on his way to Saint Kitts.

I have a picture of another moth that i saw outside my villa on the resort. This moth is not quite as beautiful as the previous one I photographed, but it is pretty cool looking nonetheless.

This is the story of "Sam The Bellhop". The clip must be popular right now since it's been sent to me about 6 times in the past week. I'm proud to say that I can do this little trick pretty well. It's not extremely hard to do but it looks great at parties. However, I tell the story a little bit differently and I'm not as adept at the false shuffle like Bill Malone here, so I have to improvise and take a few shortcuts. But it turns out impressive nonetheless...

One of my favorite little card tricks for sure, just because of the presentation you can give while telling the story.
